2021 Results
After a hiatus year for well, you know… Crush the Commonwealth was back with a vengeance in 2021. About two dozen brave riders gathered in Point State Park on Friday morning the last day of April ready for an adventure. And adventure they got. In spades. A strong line of thunderstorms that rolled through on Thursday left the GAP Trail littered with debris and more than a few downed trees. Another storm Friday afternoon left riders cold and soaked, and some even reported being hailed on. Fortunately, things improved from there and perhaps the most notable weather feature of the entire ride was a strong, gusty (mostly) helping tailwind.
For the second consecutive time Steve Gergely powered across the state for the win in a stunning 23h27m besting his own course record by more than an hour and making CtC history with the first sub-24 hour finish. What do you say? Strava or it didn’t happen? Here you go: https://www.strava.com/activities/5221589575 Adam Young arrived at The Bell at 9:19 Saturday morning for second place in 28h16m. And De’Anna Caligiuri rolled home at 9:59am to score a strong third place in 28h56m, besting the current women’s record by several hours. Full results are listed below:

Congratulations to everyone who had the guts to clip in in Pittsburgh and cheers to all who crushed it and made it to The Bell. If it looks like I have you down for 3 minutes faster than you expected, it’s because we rolled at 5:03am. If you spot any errors or omissions in the results please contact me by text or at crushthecommonwealth@gmail.com.
Also, folks would love to see pictures and hear stories of your adventures. If you have anything you can share from 2021 please send me a link by e-mail at the above address. I will likely add a post in the near future with links to riders stories, photo albums, etc. See you in Philly next year comrades…
