It’s Alive
So, you might have noticed that this here little blog has been in hibernation for a while. Well, I’m here to tell you that we’re back in business.
After a period of not-too-intense negotiations with Crush the Commonwealth co-founder and owner of this site Eric M., I have gotten his permission to take over stewardship of the blog. Since 95% of folks reading this don’t know me, I feel like I should give you a brief introduction as well as a quick summary of my intent going forward.
So, I am Ron Anderson, a 56 year old lifelong cycling enthusiast from Trenton, NJ. I only ever rode Crush the Commonwealth one time, westbound in 2014 (the Stef B. year) but I’ve had an unnatural love/obsession for the event from the earliest years, scouring the internet for whatever stories and pictures I could find.
In taking the reins of this blog my main objective is to maintain interest in CtC from year to year, primarily by collecting and posting results. If you were hoping, “Oh good, some fresh blood. Now maybe we can get this thing moved to some nicer weather in June, or find a better route around York,” I’m telling you right upfront you are out of luck. I promised Eric I absolutely would not try to make any changes to the event we all know and love. Same date, same course, same rules.
I have always felt that the heart and soul of Crush the Commonwealth has belonged to the Pittsburgh cycling community and as a boy from Wawa territory (blasphemy!) I don’t necessarily have my finger on the pulse of what is happening there, so I want all you Western PA folks to know that I welcome your input and suggestions. I will always make comments to any blog posts available and I encourage you use them. You are also welcome to contact me directly at rwanderson@optonline.net.
Thanks for having me along, and I look forward to doing my little part to help keep this unique, awesome ride alive and thriving for the foreseeable future.
-Ron A.
